Philadelphia Housing Authority started in 1937 and presently has become the nation’s fourth largest housing authority. They provide shelter for over 75,000 people in the City of Philadelphia and hired more than 1,400 employees to deliver services to their citizens.

The Philadelphia Housing Authority or what some of us may know as PHA, happens to be the largest landlord in the State of PA.

 Who Are They?

They are the group who develops, acquires, leases and operates affordable housing for residents of Philadelphia that have limited incomes.

Where do they get their money?

The majority of their funding comes from the federal government. They operate in sync with the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania governments as well as Venture Capitalists. Although they are a public agency, they operate very much like a private property management company. They hire the greatest practices of the private real estate trade. The Philadelphia Housing Authority has a budget that is over $370,000,000.
