Brick American Eatery… The Newest Addition to the Rittenhouse Restaurant Renaissance
Owners
The former Fish at 1708 Lombard Street has reopened as Brick American Eatery. Jolly Weldon & Jason Didominico are behind the new spot with consulting help from Fish’s Mike Stollenwerk. Stollenwerk was initially going to have a more active role in the project but he is focusing on the new Fish at 13th and Locust.
Food
Stopped by Brick for brunch, which is apparently what the chef is known for. My friends and I were deciding for a good 10 minutes what we wanted to eat, since everything looked amazing. Chocolate waffles, cannoli french toast, ahi tuna blt and surf and turf eggs benedict? One of everything, please! Even better, most items on the menu were $10 or less! I settled on the breakfast burrito, and they got eggs benedict and a turkey bacon/white cheddar omelette. Let me first say that the portions are HUGE. I can eat a lot the morning after a night out, and i couldn’t even finish my burrito. It was chock full of scrambled eggs, black beans, salsa, chorizo, and peppers and topped with crema and avocado mousse. All the brunch items are served with delicious home fries and seasonal fruit. My friends really enjoyed their entrees as well.
They have $5 bloody mary’s and blood orange mimosas at brunch as well. I tried the mimosa and it was very refreshing and not too sweet. I ended up with a coffee which was good but could have been a little stronger. The waitress was really good about refilling it though, which was much appreciated.
If all this wasn’t enough, they give you complimentary muffins with homemade blueberry butter when you sit down. Amazing. I can’t wait until I can go back and try more things!
