Mercadito Mexican Restaurant Opening in Philadelphia

Mercadito Mexican Restaurant will be coming to 2116 Chestnut Street in Center City Philadephia. Mercadito means “little market”. The name was inspired from Chef Patricio Sandoval childhood memories of growing up in Southern Mexico and shopping in very small local markets. Chef Sandaval’s fare is a blend of traditional Mexican cuisine with a flair of seasonal and local ingredients. This will be his 5th. Mercadito restaurant in the U.S. with existing presences in Chicago, Miami & 2 in New York. His menu is basic but has very complex components consisting of 4-5 apps, 4 entrees, a variety of original tacos, 3 ceviches and a few guacamoles. Mercadito is set to open in the spring of 2014 on floor level of the new construction highrise at 2116 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia PA 19103. This will be the first new construction highrise built in Philadelphia in more than 10 years.
